It's time to
relax.
Where better than a
quiet little island
getaway?

Situated in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay, Smith Island offers you
the chance to unwind. A two to three hours' drive from Washington, DC takes you
to Crisfield, Maryland on the Bay's lower eastern shore in Somerset
County. From Crisfield you will take a scenic 40 minute ferry ride to
the historic town of Ewell, one of three towns
located on the island.
Book a room at the
Chesapeake Sunrise Bed and Breakfast, and wake to find yourself
in a quiet little island town that has managed to keep alive a culture
and a way of life dating back to before the 18th century.
Relax on the dock or inside the boat house with your friends,
your family or with a good book. Take a walk or a ride through
the rustic town. Visit the
Museum and Cultural
Center and learn about Smith
Island's history. Ride in a kayak or just take a dip in
the bay. Smith Island is known as the 'Crabbing Capital of the
World,' and you can enjoy crabs any way you like them, at a
local restaurant or order your own bushel.
An authentic, home-baked Smith Island Cake can be brought right to the
B&B if you order in advance of your stay.
Boat owners! The
Smith Island Marina with 6 slips is the only private marina
on the Island with bathroom and shower, located in our boat house.
Dock overnight or just stop for a meal at a local restaurant.
There is plenty to do. But what you will
probably enjoy most is that feeling of not having to do anything in
particular.
Welcome to the
Chesapeake Sunrise B & B.
We know you will enjoy your stay!
